Pottery Barn Kids Duffle Bag

pottery barn duffle2 Pottery Barn Kids Duffle BagI used to love to travel.  Hop on a plane in one place… arrive a few hours later somewhere far-off and exotic.  But these days I dread it.  On the way to the airport for yet another cross-country excursion I glanced back at our mound of luggage and my daughter’s little pink duffle bag caught my eye.  I remember going away as a little girl and loving to pack my own bag the night before we left.  I felt so adult picking out the clothes I would need and dropping the items into my hard, heavy, completely impractical purple suitcase.

Perhaps to combat the impracticability issue – Pottery Barn Kids just came out with a line of compact luggage for little ones.  I got my daughter a Mackenzie Rolling Duffle Bag – pink with green accents – in preparation for our trip.  Every girl likes her own luggage and Eliza was no exception.  She claimed it immediately and began pushing it around the living room.  In general, my daughter is in a stage where she loves to wheel things around – be it a toy stroller or a toy car – apparently she enjoys pushing luggage as well.

It is a lovely bag that you can get personalized for a small fee.  We choose the pink and green – in keeping with the theme colors of her room – but there is a purple polka-dot one that really caught my eye.  I was impressed with just how much fit in the bag too.  We left town for 20 days and all my daughter’s clothes and night-gear easily went into her Mackenzie Rolling Duffle Bag.  It’s not big, but for a little person it is all you need.  For an older child it would be perfect for a weekend out of town or a short trip with their sports team.

The Mackenzie has roomy pockets and a comfortable, padded handle for easy rolling action.  Perhaps best of all it is super light-weight!  With all the weight restrictions on baggage at the various airlines these days – keeping luggage light is no small matter.

My mother was recently looking for a gift idea that was not of the usual toy/book/clothing variety.  I recommended a personalized Pottery Barn bag – and from what I hear it was a rousing success with the 9 year-old it went to.
