Lifefactory2 You Are What You SuckWith thousands of different juvenile products out there, it’s important to know which ones are safest for our children, especially the items that actually go in our children’s mouths!  When I began searching for good bottles, teething rings, sippy cups, etc, I knew I wanted to find the manufactured goods that were designed with the environment and health in mind. This is when I stumbled upon two amazing companies, Lifefactory and SIGG.

Lifefactory was started by a Pediatric feeding specialist and an integrative designer.  Their environmentally friendly and health conscious products were created to provide consumers a choice in safe and well designed essentials for babies.  Lifefactory fuses modern sensibility, eco-friendly composition, and exceptional utility to produce glass baby bottles, glass beverage bottles, and teethers that are free of known harmful chemicals including BPA, phthalates, and PVC.

Multi-Sensory Silicone Teether: Lifefactory’s  multi-sensory, medical-grade silicone teethers are designed to develop oral motor skills. Soft and light-weight it is easy for little fingers to hold.  I loved the simplicity of this product and so did my baby.  It was super convenient – I wore it as a bracelet so it was always close by. Toss it in the refrigerator or freezer to soothe aching gums. Made in the USA of medical grade silicone, it is safe and durable. Besides being BPA, phthalate, PVC, and latex free, it is dishwasher safe.

lifefactory You Are What You SuckGlass Baby Bottle with Silicone Sleeve 4 oz (120ml): Perfect for little hands, the brightly-colored silicone sleeve provides a great grip during feeding. The durable glass is thermal shock resistant and therefore can go from freezer to boiling water. The sleeve also helps protect the bottle from the inevitable drop from the stroller or feeding chair. And if you want safety, you can’t get any better than glass.   Glass is the healthiest choice for your family as there is no chance of any chemicals leaking in to liquids. The entire product, including all components, is completely free of known toxins including BPA, phthalates, polycarbonates, and PVC. The colorful sleeves and nipples are made from medical-grade silicone. Like the bottle, they are non-toxic and free of any plastic or latex. The bottle and sleeve can be boiled or tossed into the dishwasher together. No need to take them apart or fuss with small parts. Designed to grow with your child, Lifefactory bottles are versatile. The included clear cover can also serve as an easy-to-hold first cup. Twist on the solid cap and use your bottles for storing juice or snacks, perfect for a lunchbox or traveling. The other company that impressed me was, SIGG, that originated in Switzerland, one of the greenest countries on the planet! They started manufacturing water bottles in 1908 and in keeping with the standard for environmental performance, all of their bottles are certified and free of harmful chemicals. Furthermore, all ingredients inside their bottles are free of any volatile organic compounds (VOC’s), Phthalates, BADGE, BFDGE, and NOGE.

sigg You Are What You SuckSIGG Little Kids Bottle-3L: I had the chance to test out one of the SIGG water bottles and I must say, it really is a quality product.  Unlike other metal water containers, the SIGG had no strange metallic aftertaste, which is something I was sensitive to for both myself and my child.   Instead, the SIGG products have an “EcoCare Liner” inside each bottle—which is a high performance liner that ensures a fresh, clean taste.  It is chemically inert and does not absorb, leach or transfer odors or flavors, no matter what beverage is inside. All ingredients in the SIGG EcoCare® Liner are “Non Active  Ingredients.” Their Little Kids Bottles .3L/10 oz. work well for little hands (ages 1-3 years). Their  .4L/13 oz. bottles are great for those a bit bigger (ages 3-6) and as kids get older and more active they can switch to the .6L/20 oz. bottles by around age 7 or 8. The SIGG products can be found at:  http://mysigg.com/

If you’re looking for products that are made with care for both your child as well as the environment, than I highly suggest checking out Lifefactory and SIGG.
