Baby's First Thanksgiving

baby bulletRecently I received a Baby Bullet System and have been having the greatest time coming up with things to puree for my 9-month old. With my other kids I shied away from homemade baby food thinking it was too time consuming but nothing could be further from the truth.

It takes mere minutes to whip up a meal. You just throw in your veggies, fruit or grain with a little water, twist and bam – you’ve got a meal.

I can do small batches and keep them in the storage cups in the fridge or do bigger batches and freeze them in a portion tray for a later date. Believe me, it beats going to the grocery store. It’s not only time saving, it’s fun. I find it kind of addictive thinking of different food combinations.

So with Thanksgiving around the corner, I thought why shouldn’t my baby enjoy a delicious¬† meal like the rest of us. After some tinkering, I came up with a great menu:

butternut squash-1Butternut Squash Soup

1 cup boiled butternut squash
1/2 cup chicken stock

Turkey Medleyturkey 1 Baby's First Thanksgiving

1/2 cup cooked turkey meat
1/2 boiled apple
1 cup boiled sweet potato
1/3 cup water

Broccoli Baby's First ThanksgivingYummy Broccoli

1 cup steamed broccoli
1/3 cup grated cheddar cheese
1 cup boiled potato
1/3 cup water

Sweet SpinachSpinach Baby's First Thanksgiving

1 cup steamed spinach
1 boiled pear
1/3 cup water

pumpkin Baby's First ThanksgivingPumpkin Pie

1 cup cooked pumpkin

Hopefully she will enjoy her meal with the rest of the family…and the left overs for days to come.
