Fluid, Sippy Cup - Boon Inc.-1Mealtime in my house is usually the messiest part of the day. Picture four kids, ranging in age from eight months to five years, making it their business to paint the floors with their leftovers. I used to think it was my cooking, and that perhaps they were over the mushy peas, the soggy carrots and the flavorless meatloaf. But before I threw in the towel and packed up my Martha Stewart cookbooks, I decided to take a stab at spicing up the actual dinner table rather than my food.

Let’s be honest, babies and children are not the neatest eaters, and even more so, they get bored quickly. When you’re trying to force feed them nutritious meals in a not-so-entertaining environment, things can get sticky fast (no pun intended). Needing a quick fix, I started searching the web for creative accessories to not only minimize the messiness, but to also help make mealtimes more fun and less of a chore. That’s when I found the products by Boon.

Boon Inc. has created a line of innovative feeding products that are safe and non-toxic (made BPA free, Phthalate free and PVC free), that are created to minimize the mess and that also offer a fun way to serve meals. Ever since discovering Boon, I’ve yet to have a boring mealtime. My kids are not only fascinated by the colorful plates and utensils but have become neater eaters, which I solely attribute to the design of the Boon products.

Each and every product has been made with careful thought, considering all there is to consider when it comes to how a toddler eats their food. Whether it’s their “Catch Plate”, a bowl made with a built-in food catcher that extends toward the child, making sure the food ends up in their mouth rather than on the floor, or their Benders, adaptable utensils that can be positioned to accommodate any grip in any direction, their products never cease to amaze me.

Below is a list of six Boon products that I had the pleasure of testing out on my kids. I will never ever go back to the boring days of plastic plates and lame sippy cups.  Boon will improve your family mealtime tenfold.

This edgeless stsaucers Boon Feeding Productsay-put divided plate keeps alien food particles off your walls. The saucer’s slip-resistant base and unique edgeless design make it difficult for baby to lift it off the table and launch it across the room. It comes in a three color set, divided into sections with a slip-resistant base. Brilliant! ($5.99, 3-pack $15.99)

Groovy + ModWare, Interlocking Plate and Bowl Set with Utensils - Boon Inc.This interlocking plate and bowl set includes a toddler-sized plate with two separate compartments plus two small bowls that attach to the edge of the plate in a variety of positions. The small bowls are perfect for dipping—always an engaging activity at mealtime—or for serving small portions.. Silverware can be sharp and baby spoons are too small to use. ModWare is the perfect size and makes it so parents don’t have to worry about toddlers hurting themselves. ($14.99)

Fluid, Sippy Cup - Boon Inc.This streamlined sippy cup has an ergonomic, two-handed grip that is perfect for small hands. The angled spout requires less head tipping, making it more comfortable to use. The two piece design make it easy to clean. ($7.49)

Catch BowlThe Catch Bowl is the perfect way to help first-time eaters control little spills. The built-in food catcher extends toward the child, funneling runaway food back into the bowl. Made from easy-to-clean soft material, the food catcher flexes when bumped. To help avoid bigger spills, a suction cup bottom keeps the Catch Bowl firmly in place. ($9.99)

Benders, Adaptable Utensils - Boon Inc.While your child is learning how to use utensils, Benders can be positioned to accommodate any grip in any direction. (Hello, ergonomics!) And that means food arrives at its intended destination. The soft, easy grip handles can be adjusted to your child’s motor skill development. Use a sharper angle for early stages, straight for advanced stages. ($5.99)

Lawn, Countertop Drying Rack - Boon Inc.An amazing counter top drying rack that’s adorable to look at too! The flexible fake grass blades hold all your just-washed baby accessories. (And whatever else you want.) It easily holds items upright for drying while excess water collects in the bottom tray. And they’ve done it again with an easy two-piece design making it easy to clean. ($29.99)
