A Kitchen Cleaning Plan with Bounty DuraTowel

good mom A Kitchen Cleaning Plan with Bounty DuraTowelI am not the neatest person you’ve ever met but with three kids I had to get a system in place for the sanity of us all. It’s all about having a plan of attack…

First off, empty the dishwasher first thing in the morning while you’re making breakfast for the kids. Emptying the dishwasher is the thing I hate to do most – if it were up to me the dishes would sit in the sink all day and i would unload the dishwasher before I went to sleep. I am the ultimate procrastinator. So, in order to cross it off my list and feel like I’ve accomplished something – I do it right away.

Another important thing I try to do is clean as I go. I love to cook and I mess up the kitchen like nobody’s business. If I didn’t wipe down the counters or put items away as I cooked, the kitchen would turn into a HUGE disaster. Every cook knows for each part of the recipe you complete, you need to clear the area and start anew. Especially if you have a small kitchen like me!

Don’t let any job get too big because then you will get overwhelmed and never tackle it. Do a quick part of a task to make it less daunting. Let pots and pans soak in the sink before trying to scrub them down. Gather all your sippy cups missing tops even if you don’t have time to complete them just yet. It’s about the little things.

If you have a kitchen junk pile problem like I do, it’s time to gain control. My kitchen desk is where the kids school notices end up, mail I need to contend with, reminders, children’s artwork etc.  Don’t let it pile up day by day. Make yourself go through it at night before going to sleep. Create files. Have a place for everything and it will be easy to put it away.

A big part of my kitchen cleaning plan is getting the kids to help! Assign chores like emptying the garbage, putting in the liner, setting the table, and wiping down counters. It’s a great way to give children a sense of responsibility. They are never too young. I have my 2 year old put the place mats on the table and she loves it.

Having an accessible spot for all of your cleaning supplies is key. I recently learned that even more important is making sure you have the right supplies. Ever try to wipe down a counter with a toilet cleaner? Last week my son was mopping for me and he used wood polisher on the floor. The whole family was slipping all over the place. Cleaners have labels for a reason. And don’t chintz out with generic brands. Sometimes paying the extra money is worth it. I used to use a grocery store brand paper towel until a few days ago…

I was asked to test out Bounty Duratowel. Touted as Bounty’s new and improved extra-durable paper towel, I was anxious to see how it performed.  Like every other night in my house there was a big mess on the counter.

I asked my son to wipe it down with Bounty Duratowel instead of the thin paper towel or dishcloth we usually use.

He gave it a couple of swipes and the mess was cleared. He didn’t have to use multiple sheets. The towel didn’t break apart. Everything was wiped clean and looked sparkling. It was definitely a “thumbs up” moment.

After a single day’s use a dishcloth can harbor millions of germs. Bounty DuraTowel leaves surfaces three times cleaner than a used dishcloth,* so ditch the dishcloth and switch to new DuraTowel!  {*1 tsp.  spaghetti sauce, 10 mls. coffee, 1/8 tsp. creamer on laminate countertop.}  I am convinced and will incorporate DuraTowel into my kitchen cleaning plan from now on.
