Travel Tricks with OXO Tot

WIPES DISPENSER-1I recently went on a road trip with all three kids. The older ones are used to our vacations with LOTS of time in the car and many impromptu stops.

But it’s been awhile since we had a toddler on our trips. My daughter is 2 ½.  That’s a tough age for traveling. Not a baby that let’s you drag them along wherever you go, and not old enough to understand why they’re being dragged along in the first place. Anything that helps with the journey is appreciated. I found that the new products I got from the OXO Tot travel line really saved me.

Since 1990, OXO has been dedicated to providing products that make everyday living easier. They “question everything” and therefore come up with some pretty thoughtful and downright brilliant parenting solutions.

Traveling light is key. If you’re moving around a lot you don’t want to be bogged down with too much baggage. Whenever I get the chance to dump the diaper bag I take it! Wipes are obviously a traveling must-have – every mom knows that.  The great thing about the OXO Tot On-the Go Wipes Dispenser was it allowed me to keep them HANDY by hanging them from our stroller with a simple strap that secures around the handle. Best of all, I didn’t have to lug around the diaper bag. I could just throw an extra pull-up in my purse and I knew the wipes were already taken care of. With a toddler that’s potty training, this was HUGE.

A simple adjustment to a common product did the trick. And when it was time to get back in the car, I attached the wipes dispenser to the headrest! It was a lifesaver when my daughter mashed her banana all over the car seat and her brother. {OXO Tot On-The Go Wipes Dispenser available: July 28th on}

I’m all about trying to keep the same rituals while traveling as much as possible. Nap is still at the same time of day plus I bring favorite blankets and stuffed animals. My daughter also loves her juice before nap and her milk before bedtime.  Unfortunately with this endeavor, I end up cleaning out multiple sippy cups and drying them on the bathroom counter after haphazardly cleaning them with hotel soap and water. So gross!

This time I was prepared with the OXO On-the-Go Bottle Drying Rack.  A brilliant idea for the road, I stashed some dishwasher soap inside and used the brush to give them a good cleaning. I just popped open the convenient kit, which has flexible tines to hold cleaned sippy cups and dry them out. Sanitary and smart. I finally felt like the sippy cups were as clean as if I were home. A great solution!  {OXO On-the-Go Bottle Drying Rack available now on}

Entertainment for the kids when traveling is key. Our car luckily has a DVD player but even when we take my husband’s car, which does not – we make sure to MacGyver a portable DVD player on the center console. Perhaps we rely on TV too much…ya think? My daughter fully enjoyed her Dora marathon but demanded various snacks to accompany her viewing. The car always seems to be a mess under her car seat no matter what I do. Until the The OXO Tot Flippy™ Snack Cup with Travel Cover came along.

The soft, flexible opening gives little hands easy access to goodies, while the flaps keep even small snacks off the floor.  The twist-on lid stays secure when the Cup is dropped (or thrown!), and the shape of the non-slip handle is just right for toddlers. She sat and ate her cereal bites, then her cheese puffs, then her veggie chips with little incident. When she finally seemed done, I put the travel cover in and stowed it back in the diaper bag with the crumb situation under control.  {OXO Tot Flippy Snack Cup with Travel Cover available on}
