School has started and so has the weekly grind with the kids. Between sports, activities and homework, it’s tough to devote a lot of time to dinner during the week. The key is choosing dinner choices that are quick, easy and nutritious. Pillsbury Pizza Crust is just what you need.

My kids love when it’s make-your-own-pizza night. It’s not just about eating dinner but creating it together. Each week they’ve gotten more and more creative, experimenting with different veggies and fruits. We always use Pillsbury Classic Pizza Crust because it makes things super simple. I often buy three pizzas because with a family of five, we can never all agree on one pizza!

The process is as simple and quick as it gets:

Just heat your oven to 425°F.

Spray a nonstick cookie sheet and unroll the dough.

Press it into the shape you want with a little rim for the crust.

Spread your tomato sauce and pile on your ingredients.

Bake for about 15 minutes until the crust is golden brown.

For my two littlest kids, I usually put out a bunch of ingredients in bowls for them to choose – like shredded mozzarella, shredded cheddar, mushrooms, red peppers, pineapple, sliced turkey and tomato sauce of course.

We call it “Pizza Surprise”. This scenario needs some overseeing or it could be disastrous. For instance, once my 2-year old tried to make a pizza with just red peppers and nothing else – not even sauce. I had to step in. Often we have to divide the pizza in half and let them each make their own creation.

For my oldest, the picky eater, he gets his own separate plain pizza. Just cheese and sauce for him. He can’t eat it all himself so I always freeze the rest for a rainy day.

And then there’s mom and dad. We get our own pizza too! My husband is not a huge fan of cheese (lactose intolerant) so it’s light on cheese but heavy on everything else. My recipe of choice right now is marinated artichokes, red onions, parsley, sliced almonds, Port Salut cheese (not too much) and tomato sauce.

So yes…we make three pizzas to accommodate everyone. But it doesn’t feel like we are making three different dinners. It’s fun, family inclusive and rarely is everyone so happy with the dinner choice. Pillsbury Pizza Crust really does make our meal time “WOW” time.
